Why FizziQ Connect? The FizziQ app uses your smartphone's built-in sensors (accelerometer, microphone, GPS, and so on), but a smartphone cannot measure temperature, CO2, pH, or the color of light. FizziQ Connect fills this gap.
How does it work? It is a small electronic box (based on the M5 Stack) that connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth. You plug an external sensor (temperature, pH, CO2, and so on) into the box, and the measurements appear directly in the FizziQ app.

To turn on, press the left side button for 2 seconds. The screen displays the FizziQ logo. To turn off, hold the same button for 6 seconds. The box can also turn off automatically after a period of inactivity.

FizziQ Connect is compatible with three types of sensors:

• Analog sensors (0-3.3V)
• 1-Wire sensors (for example the DS18B20 probe)

Battery life varies depending on the sensors: about 8 hours with the Environment sensor, and 4 hours with the e-CO2 sensor. To extend battery life, enable Auto-off mode or lower the screen brightness.

Charge it with the USB-C cable provided, plugged into a USB charger or a computer. The battery icon shows the charge level. A full charge takes about 2 hours. You can use the box while it charges.
Broadcast mode lets you share the box's measurements with several FizziQ devices at the same time. Ideal in the classroom: a single sensor can be viewed by all students on their smartphones. Enable this mode in the box's settings.

Yes, you can connect several I2C sensors using an I2C hub (a Grove splitter). Each sensor is detected automatically. Navigate between them with the central button. Analog and 1-Wire sensors use dedicated ports.

Yes, FizziQ Connect can work completely standalone. The built-in screen displays measurements in real time, and you can record data in the box's memory. The Bluetooth connection is optional.
Yes, FizziQ Connect works with FizziQ Web on a computer. The computer must have Bluetooth. Otherwise, use a USB Bluetooth dongle. The connection is made the same way as on a smartphone.
If a sensor is not detected:
1) Check that the Grove cable is properly plugged in on both sides
2) Restart the box
3) Check that the sensor is compatible (I2C, analog, or 1-Wire)
4) Try another port or cable

Updates add new sensors and fixes. Connect the box to a computer via USB-C, then use the update tool on the FizziQ website. Follow the on-screen instructions. Do not disconnect during the update.

To use the DS18B20 temperature probe and I2C sensors at the same time, you need to modify the wiring of the probe:
• The yellow wire must be wired to the SCL pin instead of SDA
• This avoids conflicts between the One-Wire protocol and I2C
• FizziQ Connect accepts both configurations (standard and modified)
This modification lets you connect one or more probes in parallel with other I2C sensors.
